The Apprentices Act 1961 was enacted in December 1961 and is being implemented throughout India. The objectives of the Apprentices Act are-

1. To regulate and control the training of trade apprentices in the Industries to confirm the prescribed syllabus and the period of training as laid down by the Central Apprenticeship Council headed by Union Labour Minister.

2. To utilize facilities available in the Industries for imparting practical training with a view to meet the requirement of the skilled workers in the Industries.
